Croatia in Snow
The last couple of days we spend on driving back home for a Christmas holiday, we left Split Sunday morning at minus 1 degree, which seemed really cold, but as we moved north through Croatia, it got colder and colder, after Sveti rock we had temperature of minus 17.
We took a few pictures to document our winter trip trough Croatia:
We got the first signs of snow in dogupolje, where we entered the Motorway.
The road service in Dalmatia, seamed to be not so experienced in clearing the roads, as the colleges in the northern part of the country.
Beautiful mountains, by Maslenica on the way to tunnel Sveti Rock
This was how it looked when we came out on the other side of the tunnel, temperature – 17 degrees Celsius.
After we passed the second big tunnel Mala Kapela there was even more snow, it was a magnificant sight
Everything was covered in snow, luckily the snow service had done a good job, so you could get around safely.

hi there, lucky devils in HR.
its great to look at the pics and read the stories, especially those about the winterweather in Croatia.
knowing much of what you show under less snowy conditions its nice to see it all under a white blanket.
staying in Holland at the moment, counting the days till we leave for Croatia (on the sixth of januari) to spend six weeks in our second homeland (to be our final homeland in two/three years) any news from Croatia is good news.
question:
what tyres do you use in wintertime ?
regular ones or wintertyres ?
well, do have fun, keep moving towards membership of the EU and have a great christmas holiday.
bog, pim.
Hi Pim
we are actually back in our home country now and will not return before around the 5 or 6 of January.
Regarding your questions. I always have real winter tires, as soon as you get up in the mountains, you will need them.

Great to have found your blog. I’ve been to Croatia once to visit family in Donje Vratno. Didn’t have snow (it was early October). Next time I’m back, I have to visit Dalmatia. Stay safe in the snow. There should be a lot this year. – Zdravo, Brian
Perhaps it is just my memories of childhood, the beautiful snow, and the Christmas season, but I do miss the winter months.
Now I live in a crowded, sunny climate without real seasons, very hot summers, and never any snow.
I suppose one can’t have it all, but it would be nice to travel to such a Country as yours once again, and experience the wonderful chill of ice skating and the flavor of youth.
