Croatian property auction flops!

Croatian Real estate marketThe global economical crisis has also affected the property market in Croatian, as a resulted of the low number of trades, a real estate agency started a new project, where they tried to sell real estate trough an auctions.

This way of selling is new in the Croatian market, so in June the property agent, CenterNekretnina co founded a new company Auction Property Ltd, together with the Euro Group Property Auctions based in London, the intention with the new company was to organize property auctions in Croatia, and in this way wake up the sleeping real estate market.

Property auctions are worldwide a very popular way of selling and buying real estate, according to CenterNekretnina, this way of buying and selling has an advantage compare to the way of classic real estate agents.

In was originally planned to include offers from all Croatian real estate agents in the auction, as items up for sale it was goal to get residential and commercial properties, including houses, flats, villas, apartments, cottages, land, unfinished buildings, investment projects, business premises, bars, offices, hotels, motels, etc.

CentarNekretnina organized the first auction real estate in Croatia, which took place on Saturday, 26 September (this Saturday), at the Hotel Antunovic in Zagreb. On the auction 50 properties, – mostly residential property (apartments, villas, buildings, apartments, houses) and a small number of business space, office spaces and land plots, where up for sale.

The news about this auction was heavily advertised on internet portals, in daily newspapers, and weekly magazines.  Organizations expected that this auction would kick start the real-estate market, which in last period had only offers, demand was left somewhere in history…..

Unfortunately the first auction in Croatia totally FLOPPED, there were only 15 potential buyers registered, and none of the 52 properties offered was sold. The buyers was complaining that prices was to high, and at the same time sellers like company director of sale Mila Horvat from company Tehnika was claiming that she expected more from all this. Here company offered several business spaces for sale, and even when they had cut prices on half compared to initial offer, there was no interest from the buyers.
