Day sailling trip from Split
Commencing this summer a new day tour option will be available for visitors to Split. A couple of Aussie expats will provide locals and visitors to Split the chance to do a full day sailing trip to Brac, Solta, Drvenik or Ciovo. These islands in the Splitska Kanal are unique and their close proximity to Split and provide an ideal destination for day sailing trips.
Tim and Katie come from Jervis Bay, on the east coast of Australia where they previously operated a whale & dolphin watching business and bring with them over 20years of experience in the maritime and tourist industry. When they visited Croatia and the Dalmatia Islands in 2007 as tourists they realised the island’s distinctive beauty and culture and put together a plan to ensure they would return. Now in 2010 they have realised that plan and returned with their 15m sailing yacht ‘Mirjana’ to show visitors the beauty they found in the Dalmatia Islands.
The day sailing trips will provide guests the opportunity to see the islands of Brac, Solta, Drvenik or Ciovo from a different and more personal perspective as they only take a maximum of 8 passengers. These islands have many hidden bays and and sheltered anchorages that are only accessible by boat and are away from the more general tourist locations. Guests can enjoy the breathtaking views, take a swim in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic or just linger in the sun while sipping a cool drink and soaking up the refreshing breeze.
Once on board and underway guests can take the helm, help set the sails or just sit back and relax in the sun and enjoy the spectacular scenery and coastline. The island destination for the day is determined by the weather forecast to ensure safe and comfortable sailing.
First stop in the morning gives guests the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic, then its on to one of the numerous picturesque villages dotted along the coast. Once moored alongside guests can go ashore to do some shopping, exploring or just relax in one of the many cafes. As the last stop for the day the crew will anchor ‘Mirjana’ in one of the protected bays for another chance to swim while the crew prepare a delicious Mediterranean lunch from local produce including salads, cold meats, cheeses, fresh bread, fruit and wines.
After lunch the sailing and sightseeing resumes as the crew steer ‘Mirjana’ towards Split on the homeward leg. Often the afternoon sea breeze provides the best sailing conditions. After a relaxing day on the water the tour arrives back in Split in the late afternoon.
