Motorway build out might be stopped
Do to the finance crises Croatia has no more money to continue the build out of the new motorway, the companies Strabag and Alpine Bau might loose large contracts, as the financer of the Motorway, EBRD and EIB insist on a new tender.
The State owned highway operator HAC, apparently wants to cancelled the signed contracts for the motorway Ravca – Dubrovnik and contracts for the motorway Zagreb – Sisak. The HAC has, even though that they are backed by the state, not been able to obtain loans with a reasonable interest rate, so now they have contacted EBRD and EIB for loans. The EBRD and EIB basically would like to finance the motorway, but they require that a new international tender is made for the motorway build out. Some of the existing contract holders are of course are not all too happy about this, and consider to take the state to the court, other believe they should put the building of the highway on hold.
