National park Mljet Croatia - the green islandThe National Park Mljet is an amazing place to see; here you can see the salt lakes which are unique natural phenomenon. It was proclaimed as national park in 1960 and represents the first institutionalized attempt to protect an original ecosystem in the Adriatic. The rich vegetation of the island explains why Mljet is also known as the Green Island.

The Mljet Island is situated in the southern part of Dalmatia, between the peninsula Pelješac and Dubrovnik, you can visit the island on a day trip by taking ferry from Dubrovnik or from Prapratno on Pelješac, if you plan longer stay, you can choose to stay in private accommodation or hotels

Here you can find some useful travel tips for the National Park Mljet
