National park Risnjak CroatiaThe National Park Risnjak is the place worthwhile to see because of numerous springs, magnificent hills and mountains. The Park covers an area of 63,5 km2 including the central part of the Risnjak and Snježnik massif, as well as the upper flow of the river Kupa with its source area. The area of the Risnjak massif was proclaimed a national park in 1953. Early in 1997, the NP “Risnjak” was extended to the area of the Snježnik massif and the source area of the river Kupa.

In the winter you can actually go skiing in the park, of course it not like in the French alps, but for a one day trips it should be quite ok according to what I have been told.

In Risnjak there has always been a lot of frogs, as visitor you either taste the frogs in the national park restaurant, or you can visit the parks frog museum, in summer you also have option to join frog festival where you among other can see frog races, here you can read more about the National park Risnjak
